AE Team Leader designate, Miles Giljam, (above left), with current AESA Board Chairperson, Mrs Esme Bowers, and AE Founder, Mr Michael Cassidy. Miles visited the AESA team in early July, but will take up his position in October.

The Board of African Enterprise South Africa recently announced the appointment of Miles Giljam as the South African Team Leader designate.

Commenting on the appointment, AE Founder, Michael Cassidy said: “We are all both delighted and deeply privileged to be welcoming Miles Giljam to AESA. Miles’ unusual and extensive skills base will enable AE to rise to new heights and explore new horizons. An exciting new chapter is opening for this work.”

Raised and educated in Cape Town, Miles has held positions as Head of the Communications department of the Cape Town diocese of the Anglican Church, Head of Public Affairs at the Royal Commonwealth Society in London, and most recently as Head of Communications at the Evangelical Alliance of the UK. He has served on the UK Board of African Enterprise since 2008, and is currently a member of the Lausanne Cape Town 2010 Congress International Communications working group.

Miles has extensive experience in communications, change management, political advocacy and reconciliation and is passionate about united gospel-driven social change, the work of evangelism and the whole ministry of African Enterprise.

Miles will take up his position as Team Leader in October, and had this to say: “I have long admired and enjoyed working alongside Michael Cassidy and African Enterprise. This appointment is a dream come true for me. I am passionate to see the church rise up to bring people to Jesus, whilst at the same time live their faith in a way that transforms our country and continent.”

EXCITING EVANGELISM PLANNED FOR AFRICA 2010

2010 is promising to be a hugely significant year for South Africa, and the country is caught up in the excitement of the Fifa 2010 Soccer World Cup which will be hosted here in July. But Christians around the country are excited for another reason – October will see the 3rd Lausanne World Congress on Evangelism taking place in Cape Town. And Evangelism is what excites the team at African Enterprise. It is our purpose and our calling before God. This year we will be partnering with Mission Africa , the mission arm of Lausanne III, in facilitating evangelistic outreaches across the continent in the 10 countries where AE has a presence.

The Missions departments at African Enterprise (both local South African and Pan African) are hard at work planning and preparing for Evangelistic outreaches in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, Uganda, Rwanda, DRC, Ethiopia and also Sudan.

2010 marks 49 years of Evangelism on the African Continent for African Enterprise, and the team is no less passionate about bringing the Gospel message to the cities of Africa than it was in 1961.

2010, however, is an era that is vastly different to that of the 1960s. The technological revolution has brought us new ways of communicating the message, such as email, websites, Twitter, Facebook , and You Tube among others, but the message remains the same: Jesus died for our sins and we need to repent and put our trust in Him.

There are still people out there in the towns and cities of our nation who have not heard the message, and so, for African Enterprise, God’s calling remains the same: “Go and evangelize the cities of Africa in word and deed, in partnership with the church.”

And here at AE SA, we are  eager and ready to answer that call.
