St Gabriel’s ERRA Mission

St Gabriel’s ERRA Mission

The AESA mission team conducted an ERRA (Evangelism, Reconciliation, Renewal and Action) mission at St Gabriel’s Anglican church in Wentworth, an industrial suburb of Durban from 25 Feb – 1 March.

Wentworth is a predominantly Coloured community and some of the challenges and difficulties experienced in the community relate to gangs and drug and alcohol abuse. In recent years, no longer confined by Apartheid legislation to living in this previously designated coloured area, many community members who have prospered economically have moved away to other suburbs. This has had economic consequences for the area which is now predominantly inhabited by poorer folk.

The Mission theme was
“Time 4 Change”, and the 5 days of ministry included evening services at the church, a men’s breakfast and ladies tea, and visits to a local children’s home as well as a home for the aged. One of the AE Foxfire teams spent 2 days ministering in local high schools, using drama and dance, and also presenting life skills classes to the pupils.

Many were touched by the teachings and testimonies presented by the AE team and we were privileged and thrilled to pray with those who committed or recommitted their lives to Christ, as well as to minister through prayer to those in need.
