FOXFIRES WHY HAVE THE PARTNERSHIP? The Foxfires Youth Group Partnership is a program designed to help our Youth become Mission Minded and Globally Aware. African Enterprise hopes this may help you as leaders and teachers of Young people to do just that, while at the same time helping those in Africa here about Jesus Christ. Young people have the desire to be a part of something bigger than themselves, to create significance and change in the world, but the problem seems so far away and disconnected. This partnership is about bridging that gap, and allowing young people to not only see and understand ministry in Africa, but to allow them to create change and to have an impact on the lives of people there. WHO ARE THE FOXFIRES? Foxfires youth ministry is part of African Enterprise’s evangelism and leadership development program. The young people study subjects such as theology, leadership development, life skills plus many other youth related topics. Throughout the year they are sent out into the cities, schools, churches, prisons, orphanages, tribal groups etc, to proclaim the gospel and share about Jesus. They reach many areas that can be unknown and untouched by most westerners. PARTNERSHIP OPTIONS We want to make this partnership work for you and for us. We’re looking for two central things: prayer support, and a once a year fundraiser. But we understand that with busy leaders and tight youth group timetables, that fitting in this program may be extremely difficult. So we have set up a number of different ways to be involved in this partnership, depending on how much you are keen to commit. Full partnership At the end of each term you will receive material from the field such as videos, photos and reports as well as some of the Foxfires’ testimonies, to share in a spot at your Youth group. Throughout the year, your youth group commits to prayer support of the Foxfires and their ministries, as well as sharing the stories and reports from the field. Your youth group will also be supplied with a number of materials and resources to give to the kids for use at events or meetings. In terms of raising financial support for the Foxfires, your youth group will hold a once a year fundraiser to support the Foxfires ministry. This can be anything from a trivia night, barbeque to a carwash. ForGo for Foxfires program ForGo for Foxfires is the second option for involvement in the Foxfires Partnership. Bottom line, you allow your youth to select one thing they appreciate in their week, establish the value of it and get people to sponsor them for that amount while they spend the week without it. They may choose coffee, cable TV, or anything they have a right to enjoy but for this week they choose to give it up. More information will come about this program in the next month. The week will be June 23rd to 29th 2008. Sponsor a Foxfire What you get from us…. DVD Enclosed is a DVD which explains the youth group partnership, Foxfire ministry, and other African Enterprise ministries. You may choose to use it at a launch night. Also enclosed is a Sponsor a Foxfire DVD that your crew can watch and hopefully feel more connected to the Foxfires. Foxfire Profiles One of the first pieces of information you will receive is the team profiles. You might choose to introduce individual team members as the year goes on or simply focus on one particular team member. Power Point email updates You will receive the latest email update which will contain information like prayer points, ministry stories and a team member updates in a PowerPoint presentation (we can supply in other formats if necessary). They are sent out before the end of each term. Hopefully the Powerpoint presentation will enable you to easily access information that you may put in some other format, like a little newsletter, or you can simply run the presentation to your youth when it suits your program. Prayer Points and Stories These are designed so you can use them all at once or spread them out. Hopefully this will give them a growing understanding of the issues facing Africa, the issues facing the church and how your youth may make a difference. Also, they will learn about what the Foxfires do, which we hope will encourage and challenge. Event speaker AE Australia has a number of people who are available to come to your ministry, fundraiser or any other event. Just contact the office and we will see who is available. This is a great tool for you as you teach the next generation of Christians. I know that our Foxfire brothers and sisters appreciate your prayers and the support you give is helping them to be better resourced for their ministry. Our hope is that the Foxfire ministry will also expand into other parts of Africa so that more people hear the good news about Jesus. Exciting times!
